Smart home technology for new builds and residences in Albany

Albany is one of the most active places in the Bahamas for new construction. We work with owners, architects and builders from the drawings onward so lighting, shades, climate, entertainment, network and security are designed in rather than added later.

Architectural plans for a new home

How we work in Albany

A new home in Albany is the ideal moment to get technology right. Before the walls close there is a short window to run the cabling, conduit and power that every later system depends on, and to agree keypad, speaker, camera and shade positions with the architect and interior designer. Done then, the finished house has clean walls, no visible equipment and a system that can be extended for years.

Island Integration provides technology design and pre-wire for Albany projects, followed by installation and programming of Control4, lighting control, motorized shades, climate, cinema and networking, and ongoing support once the home is occupied.

What we deliver here

  • Technology design documents. Device location plans and cable schedules your builder and electrician can price and install from.
  • Pre-wire and structured cabling. Installed by us or supervised with your electrician at the right stage of construction.
  • Centralized lighting and shades. Panel-based lighting control and recessed shade pockets planned with the architect.
  • Dedicated cinema and media rooms. Designed from the room dimensions, with acoustics and light control considered early.
  • Estate networking. Wired access points indoors and out, with capacity for the many connected devices a modern home carries.
  • Security and access. Cameras, intercom, smart locks and gate integration, planned with sightlines and landscaping in mind.

How we work

From first call to handover

  1. Join early

The most valuable meeting is the one before plans are finalized. We review the architectural drawings and mark up every device and cable location.

  2. Coordinate the trades

We work with the builder, electrician, AC contractor and interior designer so nothing is missed between them, and we attend site at the stages that matter.

  3. Install in phases

Rough-in during construction, equipment and trim-out near completion, programming and calibration once finishes are in.

  4. Refine after move-in

Scenes, schedules and shade timings are adjusted after you have lived in the home for a few weeks.

Local knowledge

Good to know about Albany

  • Concrete construction. Once poured and plastered, walls are permanent. Conduit and cable run during construction is the cheapest investment in the whole project. Our pre-wire checklist lists what to include.
  • Sun and glass. Large glazed elevations facing the water bring heat and glare. Solar shades on a schedule, coordinated with climate control, keep rooms comfortable and reduce cooling load.
  • Power resilience. We design for surge protection, UPS on the rack and network, and correct behaviour on generator transfer.

Frequently asked questions

When should we involve you in an Albany build?

Ideally during design development, before construction drawings are issued. Changes on paper cost nothing; changes after plaster are disruptive.

Can you work with our architect's or builder's preferred electrician?

Yes. We supply the drawings and specifications and either install the low-voltage cabling ourselves or supervise the electrician's crew.

Do you provide ongoing support after we move in?

Yes. We offer remote monitoring and support so the system is looked after whether you are in residence or abroad.
