Climate control

Smart climate control for homes in the Bahamas

Air conditioning is the biggest energy use in most Bahamian homes. Smart climate control keeps rooms comfortable, manages humidity while you are away and stops cooling empty spaces.

Smart thermostats

What we do

Climate control in the tropics is about more than temperature. Humidity decides whether a house feels fresh or clammy, whether mould gets a foothold while you are abroad, and how hard the equipment works. Smart thermostats and integration with your automation system let you manage all of that from your phone or a keypad, with schedules that match how the house is used.

We integrate smart thermostats and HVAC controls with Control4, shading and occupancy, so the house cools the rooms in use, eases off when nobody is home and holds a safe humidity level in between.

What’s included

  • Smart thermostats. Connected thermostats compatible with common split and ducted systems, with remote control and alerts.
  • Zoning and schedules. Different set-points for bedrooms, living areas and guest suites, with schedules that follow your routine.
  • Humidity management. Away modes that hold humidity in a safe range to protect finishes, furniture and electronics.
  • Scene integration. Away and Goodnight scenes that adjust climate along with lighting and shades.
  • Alerts. Notifications if a room drifts out of range, which is often the first sign of an AC fault in an empty house.

How we work

How we approach climate control

  1. Review the HVAC system

We confirm what your air-conditioning equipment can do and choose thermostats or interfaces that are compatible with it. Where needed we coordinate with your AC contractor.

  2. Design the schedules

Set-points and schedules are built around occupancy, orientation and the way each room is used, then refined after a few weeks of real data.

  3. Combine with shading

Lowering shades on sun-facing glass in the afternoon reduces the heat the AC has to remove. Climate and shading are programmed together.

Designed for the islands

Good to know in the Bahamas

  • Second homes. A house left closed for months needs humidity control, not just a high set-point. Remote visibility and alerts give you peace of mind.
  • Power outages. After an outage, thermostats and controllers should return to their schedule automatically. We configure and test that behaviour.
  • Salt and corrosion. Thermostat and sensor locations are chosen away from direct airflow, sun and salt exposure for accurate readings and longer life.

Frequently asked questions

Will a smart thermostat work with my air conditioning?

Most ducted and many ductless mini-split systems can be controlled. We check the equipment before recommending a solution.

Can I see and change the climate from abroad?

Yes. You can view temperature and humidity and adjust set-points from your phone anywhere with an internet connection.

Does this actually save money?

Not cooling empty rooms, shading hot glass and holding sensible set-points reduce run time. The exact saving depends on the home and habits, and we never promise a number we cannot stand behind.
