Start with a smart thermostat
A connected thermostat lets you set schedules and adjust temperatures from your phone. The savings come from not cooling empty rooms, which is easy to forget without automation. Check that the thermostat is compatible with your air conditioning system, since many split and multi-zone systems use different controls than a typical North American furnace and AC.
Use schedules and presets
- Raise the setpoint when no one is home.
- Pre-cool before you arrive, using remote access.
- Create “Away” and “Sleep” presets that apply to the whole home in one press.
Think in zones
Rarely does every room need the same temperature at the same time. Where the equipment allows it, zoning lets bedrooms, living areas and guest suites be managed independently.
Reduce the heat load
The easiest cooling is the cooling you don’t need. Keeping direct sun out of rooms with automated shades reduces the load on your air conditioning, and good insulation and sealing help too.
Set realistic expectations
Savings depend on your equipment, building, habits and electricity rates, so we do not promise a specific percentage. Ask for a review of your current setup before you buy new hardware.
